Hedstrom Lumber's historic tale of 100 year history

Sawdust in their Blood: 100 years of the Hedstrom Lumber Co.

By Jim Boyd
On July 14, 1914, North Shore pioneer Andrew Hedstrom began sawing lumber on the banks of the Devil Track River north of Grand Marais, Minnesota. From its humble start in a pioneer settlement during the tall-pine logging era, Hedstrom Lumber survived a century to become the modern no-waste sawmill operation of today. Sawdust in Their Blood is a celebration of the Hedstrom family’s achievements during 100 years in the timber industry.
